Our Story as an Online Store

1. How It All Began

It all started with a simple idea: what if we could make available electronic products that are not easily found in every store in Finland, and at a reasonable price?

We are not starting with grand goals or a precise plan; instead, we're letting time guide us and making improvements along the way. It was more about a passion for technology and a desire to do something different. The thought of what would happen if we took the idea a bit further was intriguing, and from that, Teknikspot was born.

2. An Online Store by Accident

Although we are now talking about an online store, it was not part of the plan at all initially. The idea gradually emerged, not from one or two concepts, but along the way.

I was studying for a basic degree in information and communication technology, specializing in software development. One elective course happened to cover setting up and deploying an online store. At that time, an online store wasn't yet on my mind, but something about it stuck with me, and I wanted to delve deeper into it, so I went on to complete a course in e-commerce development and maintenance.

Before this, I had completed a basic degree in logistics, where logistics, warehouses, and supply chains became familiar through practical experience, and I'd been involved with my father since childhood, so that world felt natural to me. But the direction was still open. I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do.

When I combined these two backgrounds—logistics and software—and started to delve deeper into Asian markets, products, and the culture itself, something clicked. Asia had always interested me anyway, and I realized how many opportunities it could offer if I found the right people to join, and that's how the idea of Teknikspot began to take shape.

3. First Experiments and Ideas

In the initial phase, we started experimenting with a dropshipping model, which seemed like an attractive way to begin lightly, without our own inventory or large investments. The idea was simple: the customer orders, the supplier ships—it sounded incredibly easy and straightforward.

However, reality proved to be different. A lot of time and money was spent on costs and uncertainties to ensure the customer actually received what was promised and agreed upon. For example, we ordered a weather station for a customer that was supposed to come in a chosen color, but in the end, the product was a completely different color than what was promised. Such situations were frustrating not only for us but also for the customer. After a few months of experimentation, we decided that we would not sell anything to customers where we couldn't be certain that the product was as described.

4. A Friendship That Brought Asia Closer

One of the people on this journey has been my friend 吴昊煜 (Wu Hao Yu), whom I call Nolan. Nolan is my first friend from China. We originally met on a language app, where we both practiced each other's languages—I practiced Chinese, and Nolan practiced Finnish. He studied Finnish and became interested in the Finnish way of life and culture at the same time.

Nolan has taught me a lot about China: the language, customs, culture, and especially how to approach trade with Chinese people. He has offered perspectives that I couldn't have learned from books or the internet.

He has also acted as my interpreter and advisor. I couldn't imagine a better person for this role, someone who understands both Chinese and Finns. Nolan understands Finnish, but also what kind of people live in Finland, and that makes him a unique bridge between cultures and a friend.

5. The Future Is Built Piece by Piece

We are not going to make grand promises, nor will we say where everything will lead or what is in store. We want to let things grow organically and take this journey one step at a time.

The goal is to build an online store that combines practicality, an interest in technology, and sensible options for customers. Asian technology is an important part of this story for us, but above all, we want to keep things clear.

If you read this far, we want to say thank you! Teknikspot is not finished, nor does it need to be. This started from an interest and has gradually developed into something more concrete.
